Services
Some of the services the Architectural Research Centers
Consortium (ARCC) provides its members include:
- Research referral services and advice through the ARCC
President and Board
- ARCC Newsletter, edited at Norwich University and published two times a year, to keep members informed of research programs and projects, upcoming conferences, etc.
- Research conferences, usually one a year, on subjects of widespread interest to members. The 2006 spring conference (jointly organized with the EAAE) subject was "Emerging Research and Design", the spring 1997 conference focused on "Recent Research in Architecture and Planning", the spring 1996 conference focused on "Applied Research in Architecture and Planning", the spring 1994 conference subject was "Contemporary Themes in Architectural Research", and the fall 1994 conference focused on "Developing and Sustaining Architectural Research Centers".
These meetings generally include interactions with
representatives of funding agencies and collateral
organizations such as: Department of Defense, Department
of Energy, Department of Justice, Department of Housing
and Urban Development, National Endowment for the Arts,
and National Science Foundation
- Annual meetings, usually held in conjunction with the ACSA Administrators Conference, typically have a program that deals with research infrastructure. Past topics included "Celebrating 20 Years of ARCC" (1996), "Building an Architectural Research Culture" (1995), and "How to Develop and Sustain Architectural Research" (1994).
- Periodic fact sheets, sent out by the President
- Consultations for researchers, center directors, and
academic administrators on issues related to research and
development programs
- Continuing contact with funding agencies and initiatives
of interest to members
- Sponsorship of focus sessions at conferences of
collateral organizations. For example, ARCC has sponsored
sessions at the ACSA Annual Meetings (such as
"Developing Faculty Research" in 1994, "Research Resources on the Internet"
in 1996, and "Disseminating Information on the
Internet" in 1997)
- Networking with colleagues through the ARCC Web site and
listserver
