Volume 3 issue 1 - Selected Papers from the EAAE/ARCC 2004 International Conference
Between Research and Practice "This is a topic which is both relevant and topical. Building the body of knowledge that informs the work of Architectural Practice is a task significantly greater than merely designing and constructing buildings. The zone which lies between research and practice is often neglected, and consequently events and valuable experiences remain unrecorded. Often these unrecorded works and studies carried out by architectural practices add significantly to the quality of their design. Were these studies and works to have been recorded in a formal manner they could indeed form the basis for some architectural research.
The theme of this conference sets out to investigate this narrow zone and attempts to differentiate the type of activities that merit the title research and so contribute to the body of architectural knowledge." Opening remarks by Professor James F. Horan
(President, EAAE & Head, Dublin School of Architecture)
