Volume 2 Issue 1 - Selected Papers from the ARCC/EAAE 2002 International Conference
"Although the Conference call for papers was extremely broad in scope, the papers submitted, did in fact fall in relatively few session themes: pedagogical/research theory and methods, the role of digital media in architectural research and education, environmental concerns and cultural identity. Within these general topics however, the papers were for the most part quite diverse, displaying radically different research methodologies...and growing out of very different theoretical positions. It is the particular diversity of approaches, rooted in the many academic cultures embodied by the conference participants, that characterizes these biannual joint conferences. One is simultaneously exposed to extremely interesting topics and a multiplicity of research methodologies that one might otherwise never encounter at a more narrowly topic-defined conference. This opportunity to juxtapose such diverse attitudes provides a fertile ground in which to critically evaluate and hone one's own position regarding architectural research."
